The threshold

Choose advanced when the operation shapes the build.

This package is designed for businesses where catalogue size, markets, customer types, fulfilment or connected systems create requirements beyond a straightforward store launch.

Larger or technical catalogues

Complex variants, specifications, filters, product relationships, bundles or structured product information.

Several routes to market

Domestic and international customers, consumer and wholesale sales, or online and physical retail.

Connected operations

Requirements involving inventory, warehouse, CRM, email, subscriptions, reviews, feeds or external data.

Potential capabilities

The scope follows technical discovery.

Advanced merchandising

Flexible campaigns, landing pages, product recommendations, bundles, upsells and richer collection experiences.

Markets and localisation

Market-specific domains, currencies, language planning, duties and content where the selected Shopify plan supports them.

Subscriptions and repeat purchase

Subscription journeys, account management and operational testing with the selected provider.

Structured product data

Metafields, metaobjects, reusable content models, filters and scalable catalogue templates.

Integration planning

Defined data flows between Shopify and approved operational, marketing or reporting systems.

Advanced analytics

A measurement plan covering acquisition, product behaviour, checkout, conversion and commercial reporting.

Performance and accessibility

Lean implementation, media controls, responsive QA, keyboard and screen-reader considerations.

Team governance

Roles, permissions, content processes and training for staff responsible for different parts of the store.

Technical discovery

Complex work is defined before it is promised.

01

Systems

Identify every platform, owner, contract and source of data.

02

Flows

Document what information moves, in which direction and how often.

03

Risks

Test APIs, app limits, data quality, dependencies and failure scenarios.

04

Scope

Issue the build specification, responsibilities, phases and quotation.

Custom APIs, ERP connections, warehouse systems and unusual migrations are not hidden inside the starting price. They are separately defined after evidence-based technical discovery and may involve an integration specialist.

Shopify Plus

Enterprise requirements receive an enterprise decision.

Shopify Plus may be appropriate for high-volume or complex organisations requiring enterprise controls, extensive B2B capability, multiple stores, advanced checkout options or sophisticated integrations. It is not recommended simply because a business wants to appear larger. Platform choice follows the actual requirements and operating cost.

Questions

Before an advanced proposal.

Is every integration possible?

No. Feasibility depends on documented APIs, Shopify plan limits, data quality, security, supplier cooperation and budget. Discovery establishes what is achievable.

Do we automatically need Shopify Plus?

No. Many advanced stores can operate on other Shopify plans. Plus is considered when its capabilities and commercial value justify the cost.

Can the work be phased?

Yes. A foundation release followed by clearly planned phases is often safer than attempting every feature for the first launch.

Who is responsible for third-party systems?

The proposal names each responsibility. Third-party licences, vendor support and changes outside Shopify remain subject to those providers.
